Aston Martin V8 Vantage X-Pack

Purchased by our client, the third owner, in April 1996, chassis No 12629 was finished in Storm Red with Magnolia trim and featured the rare factory steel sliding sunroof option. Fulfilling an ambition and adding another car to his collection, the decision was made to use the Vantage as his every day car. Accompanied by a comprehensive history folder confirming this example had been properly serviced by Reg Vardy, Stratton Motor Company and DJR (latterly Aston V8 specialist Rikki Cann), my client continued to run this V8 regularly for approximately two years and some 15,000 miles.

In Nov 1998 at MOT, corrosion was noted and the advice sought from more local Aston specialist restorer, Alan Smith of Phoenix Restoration, Surrey. Faced with the dilemma of finding a replacement car in  a either Metallic Blue or Balmoral Green with no corrosion that drove as well as his own, or restoring the car he enjoyed so much, the later was adopted. Over the course of the next two years, Phoenix restoration worked with our client restoring this stunning motor car to near concourse standard. Since then, this V8 Vantage has been used sparingly and is a testament to the standard of restoration completed finally in 2002 and the care and attention that has been taken to maintain the standard achieved.
